Gawd- what a drama!
Friday night I went round to pick up a scooter I arranged to buy off this guy. I was so excited- I have been wanting to get one for so long, and this one was perfect. I rocked up gave him a cheque and got the bike.
I took it for a spin, popped in and had a coffee at Gavin’s, went to West End to check the mail, and went for a spin throught the city and over the Story Bridge.
When I got home and went though the paperwork, I noticed that there were some missing pages in the vehicle transfer application, the safety certificicate had expired (needed by law to seel a vehicle in Qld) and the bike was in someone else’s name. So I called him to work out what was going on, and he said that he bought it a few months ago and never got round to transferring it into his name, he then offered to arrange this next week if I needed it (duh). I stewed on this, for about half an hour until Mark arrived home.
Mark works for the bank that issued the check and he knew that I could cancel it very easily, which was a huge relief, by this stage I had worked myself up into such a state, and thought I had lost all my money.
So I called the dodgy guy back and said he can have the bike back and I would like my cheque back, luckily, he agreed, and we drive round immediatley to cancel the whole transaction.
This was a real close call- I am too trusting, and as you know hate paperwork. And I am now still looking for a scooter.
